By Fabian Tan
There are many facets to selling a domain name and they can sometimes be confusing. Here are the facts that dominate how to sell a domain name for profit.
1. Everyone wants a domain name and plenty are willing to pay for it
Depending upon what type and what extension of the domain name, you can sell these for a profit. Sometimes a very huge profit.
2. There are at least three ways to sell a domain name
Each one works and is profitable. It is up to you to decide which way is the right way for you to receive your reward. Each one has drawbacks, but some have them more than others.
3. There are many different web domains that can be sold
Some of the extensions are .com, .info, .mobi, .org, and .asia. These are just a small sample of the dot com names that can be sold throughout the world.
4. 5 golden rules to selling
Remember the 5 golden rules to selling which are avoid clever puns, think like an investor, buy all alternatives to a web domain name, don't tailgate and don't rush.
The last sounds like a misnomer. It means not to rush in and buy the first thing available. Make a decision fairly quickly though in order to stay on top of a hot property.
These methods of selling a domain name vary but the results are the same. Each sale is a wonderful profit. This is considered to be the internet's version of prime real estate. So now you know how to sell one of these domains.

How to Flip Domains - 4 Ways to Make Money Fast on the Internet
By Mike Furlong
Flipping domains can be a lucrative business. But what does a domain flipper do to make money?
As in many types of business, there are various models or techniques for domain flipping.
Learn how to flip domains and reap the profits.
1. Register a new domain
Registering a new domain name is simple and relatively inexpensive. I wish I had registered "cars" or "trucks" or "computers" or other fundamental product names years ago. I could auction off those names for large sums now. But I suspect every single-word domain name in the dictionary is owned already. Still, people frequently come up with new unique combinations of two and three-word domain names, and you can too. If the name has value to someone, then you can sell it by auction or via a broker. But there is another alternative for new domain names. Who would have thought that "twitter" or "squidoo" would become a popular domain name? If you are creative with names, maybe you can make up the next "digg" or "reddit".
2. Buy expired domain names
Domain names expire every day. And many of the search engines value older websites over new ones. The websites may already have links which the search engines also use in ranking. Finally, the website may also have traffic -- another desirable item in website valuation. So if you pick up an expired domain and find the right buyer, you can pocket the profit.
3. Buy an established website domain name
Many websites can be purchased for a reasonable price. Their owners may tire of running a website, or be dissatisfied with the amount of money they are making. This may be because they lack the time, marketing skills, or web development skills to exploit the website. If you have these skills (or you can hire them at the right price), then you can bump up the revenue and keep the website, or sell it based on its new value due to the increased income.
4. Use parked domains to generate revenue
Maybe you have parked some domains while you work on developing a website (or can also buy parked domains from others). However parked domains may show up in search engine results if the domain names have relevance to the search. Many domain name registrars and other websites provide domain name parking services that will put advertising (e.g. Google adsense) on your parked website's page. The companies will charge you a fee for parking or share in the ad revenue (or both). You do not have go this route. You can take your parked domains and put your own ads on the pages and keep all the money.

Profit From Domain Parking
By Robertas Jackus
In the beginning of 2008 year I read a book! I got it from my wife as a Christmas present, but I started reading only few weeks later. It was very good book - Bodo Schafer's "The Road to Financial Freedom".
It was like a light at the end of tunnel :) I started looking for ways how to generate passive income. I attended rapid reading courses, tried to work on self training to get to higher level. All my effort's took my minds to this mind:
I want to work for myself when I want and I want to feel free not to work, enjoy myself being with my family! Recently I read an article how anyone can make ROI (revenue on investment) at about 1000% in a month on domain parking. To start you need only 10$ (to buy a domain).
It looked great, but too great. That's why I did my own calculations on domain profit form domain parking.
Let's say we buy a domain for average price 10 $ (as Moniker.com offers .com domain for ~ 10$, .net domain for ~ 6$, .org domain for 11$ and .info domain for ~ 5$). We park it at Sedo.com or Parked.com (I prefer Parked.com, cause it is based by Yahoo, and most of my domains have many Yahoo links). I could calculate for a maximum revenue, but i would calculate for minimum revenue. Because I want to show you, that YOU can do this as your secondary way of income and after some time, when you'll fell confident to work only for yourself, it will become you first income way. Usually we won't get much from parking on first month, let it be 4$. After first month our domain's keywords and look would be optimized and Click rate would be greater. But I won't tell you - "from now on you'll be a millionaire". Of course we can be, but a little bit later. It depends on how hard you'll try to do this, and how many bucks you going to put in.
So let's start calculating ..
First we buy domain research services (there are many vendors and later I'll write some reviews) for 37$ per month. We buy a number of domains (let it be 30 for the start). First month you should get average 4$. And for other months we'll do calculations. We count on average unique visitors - 600 per month (it will be 20 visitors per day, 1 visitor per 1,2 hours). If average click rate is 10%, which is low rate, usually it is at about 20-25%, and average pay per click rate 0,10 $, which usually is at 0.25-0.5$ - we get 6$ from one domain per month. Remember you bought a domain for 10 $, and you get revenue of 10 $ in 2 months.
We bought 30 domains first month, so we would get 30*10 = 300 $ in 2 months. What it should be for 12 months ? After optimization your domain's click rate should go high. As working on minimum case, we count on 2% profit increase. But it can as high as 20 %. But let's stay on minimum case. After 12 months we will have ~ 2310 $. Remember we started from 337$. So we have ROI (revenue on investment) equal to 685%.
Imagine if you would buy domains next month and then next month? What should you get after that?

Domain Flipping - 10 Things You Need to Know When Purchasing a Domain Name to Flip!
By Ryan Van Buuren
Domain flipping has become a nice resource for earning additional income. You can easily make a profit of $40 - $100 in the space of a week. However knowing what domain names to purchase, and flip, is the only way that you can turn profits effortlessly. Here are 10 things you need to know when purchasing a domain name.
- If you are just starting out, it is better to buy a few domain names (commonly 10), rather than just one or two. This will create a better chance of you profiting then losing money. Many expert domainers buy hundreds of domain names, but if you are just a beginner first develop the skills involved in domain flipping.
- Do your research and always put your mind in that of the purchasers. What you may think is a good domain name, does not mean that it will be good sell.
- Think of what you are going to do with the domain name. Is it for short term or long term use? If it is for short term use you need to have a top level domain (TLD) name, as you are probably going to flip the domain name immediately, thereby less chance of losing money. If it is for long term use, you need to make sure you get traffic to the domain name, to make it appreciate in value. Generating traffic will definitely increase the price of your domain name.
- Are you going to build a website or blog around the domain name and then flip the website? This is a very good source of income as well.
- Look for rising trends and register your domain name around that trend. When the trend hits you can easily make a nice amount of money for that domain name.
- Make sure your domain name does not infringe on trademarks or copyrights, like having Google included in your domain name.
- If you aren't able to find good domain names, head over to Ebay.com or domain flipping forums to see what domain names are selling for a high price. You can then get keywords from that, and try finding domain names with those keywords in them.
- Relate to what purchaser's are looking for in domain names. Popular trends are music, games, adult themes, profit themes, etc.
- Try find good domain names with ".com". They are perceived as more valuable than the other extensions. ".info" and ".net" are good as well, but try stick to ".com"
- Last, but definitely not least, do not give up. Many beginners start flipping domains thinking they are going to make a killing, and when they make $5 or so, they get despondent and give up. Domain flipping takes skill and time to learn, but in the end is worth it.
Ryan van Buuren has been active in the online business industry since 2002, doing various internet businesses. He has found domain flipping to be one of the easiest online businesses to run, with not much risk involved. By Nizzura Sofea

There are a lot of tips and guide available to assist you in searching for the best domain name of your website. some of the characteristics of a good domain name include related to your website, easy to remember, unique without a huge amount of similarities with other domain names and short.
Once you have chosen a domain name that suits your website and you, the next step is to register the domain name. Before registering your domain name, there are a couple of points to remember:
Come up with a few domain names instead of only one because the one might have been taken. If you are unsure on how to choose good domain names for your website, try search around for guidelines and tips.
Obtain the DNS IP address, primary nameserver and secondary nameserver from the web host. This information usually can be found in the FAQs section.
Get your payment details such as credit card ready as it is required for getting a domain name upon application.
For independent applicants without a web host, there are some registrars that allow you to park your domain name at a temporary website. However, if you have a web host, you can go straight away to the registrars and apply for the domain name with the required information.
This step is best done as quickly as possible as the domain name that you are intending to brand your website might be taken by someone else. Once it is taken, you will have to use another name. Thus, to avoid missing such opportunity you must be quick to gather all information required and register without hesitating.

How to Sell a Domain Name in 4 Easy Steps
By Fabian Tan
Selling domain names can be fun and profitable. However you need to know how to do it. This list will show you how to sell a domain name and make a profit from it.
1. Place a value on a domain name
This is necessary before you can sell it at a profit. When you sell a domain name, you are selling a property and there are ways to go about doing that. Decide on the value of your domain name. How much money did you make out of it? Is the topic it covers a hot topic at the moment?
2. Decide if you are going to sell it yourself or have someone else sell it for you
This is imperative to beginning the selling process for the domain name. The domain name, once valued will become a piece of property that can be worth a lot of money. You can spend the time looking for buyers for your product, or you can hire someone else to work for you on a commission basis.
3. Create an active site for the domain name in question
By setting up an active site, you are much more likely to sell the domain, than if you just simply creating a web page only. Bear in mind this is a good way to sell a domain name. When buyers see a complete site, it is more valuable in their eyes. This move is also likely to fetch you a higher price.
4. Closing the deal on a sale
By closing the deal on this sale, the domain name transfers to someone else and you see a profit. This is one of the best ways to sell this type of domain name. Instruct the buyer as to how you are going to transfer it.
This is just a basic primer on how to sell a domain name. This is the simplest version of how to sell one. This gives you the basics to be able to sell and to profit from this type of venture quickly and easily.

Domain Resellers
By Carolyn Clayton
When searching for domain companies, web design companies, internet marketing companies you will be spoilt for choice as there are so many. The same can be said for domain resellers which make the domain business a lot more competitive. Many web design or marketing companies have now become domain resellers as they buy so many domains themselves it makes sense to become a reseller and buy domains at cheap prices and then pass these savings on to their customers.
So what is a domain reseller? A domain reseller is someone or company that have registered to become a domain reseller and that can now sell domains. The difference between buying a domain of a proper domain registrar compared to buying them off a reseller is basically cheaper prices and better customer service. Resellers are agents for domain registrars. Because resellers buy their domains in bulk they are able to buy them at a cheaper price and sell them cheaper than the domain companies. Sounds confusing? It really isn't. Resellers are just like middle men, they act as agents for the domain companies. They buy domains in bulk at wholesale price and then sell them on. Simple!
If you are seriously considering becoming a domain reseller then you need to find yourself an ICANN Accredited Registrar. When a domain company becomes ICANN registered they are known as a trusted and reliable domain company. This is because ICANN( the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, one of whose jobs is to manage the assignment of domain names and IP addresses) keep the domain name system working and stable.
When a domain company is listed as ICANN registered you know that the domain company has been given the thumbs up the ICANN. In the world of domains this is a serious pat on the back. And it doesn't come cheap; it costs domain companies a lot of money to be classed as ICANN Accredited Registrars. There are hundreds of ICANN-accredited registrars worldwide so it is worth looking at a few and finding out which ones offer the best reseller packages.
Anyone can become a reseller but most resellers are companies that already have an internet based business such as Web Design companies and Search Marketing companies. But you don't have to have this type of business, you might just like to sell domains and going through the domain reseller option is the best, simplest and cheapest option.
Carolyn is the webmaster for Discount Domains Ltd, an ICANN accredited registrar offering Domain Reseller Programs.

Domain Reselling - One of the Internet's New Trends
9.22.2008
By Helen Cox
As the Internet grows and expands there always seems to be new ventures and ideas cropping up; this is especially true when it comes to aspects that revolve around the purchasing of domains and the building of new websites. So what does the world of domains and the Internet have to offer us now?
With the growth and expansion of the Internet domain reselling has came to the forefront and has been helped by many website design companies who offer the service of domain reselling. It is thanks to these website design companies that domain reselling has expanded and many of these domain reseller companies are now stand alone Internet businesses, but just what is this domain reseller business all about?
The companies who become the domain resellers provide registration of available domain names for their clients and often also engage in the process of acquiring expired domains from a drop registrar for later resale; so selling domain names as a reseller for an established registrar is a great solution for webmasters registering many domains, and a great money making opportunity for anyone on the Web.
Becoming a domain reseller holds great business potential. Whether you're a web designer, developer or search marketing service, or you're looking to establish your own domain management service, you could benefit from the help of an established provider. Many domain name registrars will offer reseller programs to any individual or business who wishes to sign up. If accepted, they can then register domains at lower prices through their parent ICANN accredited registrar and can then resell them to customers.
Whether you are hoping to become a domain reseller business or you are an individual or business who are wishing to make the most from using a domain reseller you will be giving yourself the added advantage of being able to use a range of tools which are available thanks to domain reseller programmes such as unlimited domain hosting and includes a range of added services such as search engine optimisation, load balancing and exchange email.
The basic idea of a domain reseller is to drum up more business for a registrar as the initial registrar will still take care of all the services such as registration and customer support; however the buyer pays the reseller and may even access the domain name control panel at the reseller's site, the domain name is actually registered with the reseller's parent registrar.
If you are looking to do business with a domain reseller company then you need to ensure that the domain reseller is trusted and the best way of ensuring this is finding out if the domain reseller is ICANN accredited. You should also do your research into your chosen domain reseller by finding out about their prices to see if they are competitive, provide exceptional customer service and have a state-of-the art IT infrastructure.
So for the latest when it comes to gaining a domain find out more about domain reselling and what it can do for you.
Helen is the web master of Discount Domains, who can provide you with all of your Domain Reseller needs.
