So, you have decided to go online and build a website for your business. One of the elements that you need to take into consideration is choosing a website name that will promote easy recall and appeals to your target market so you can drive more traffic to your website.

1. Character types. In choosing your domain name, it is important to know that you can only use letters, numbers, hyphens, and dashes. Spaces and other symbols are not allowed. In addition, website names are not case sensitive so Google dot com and gooGLe dot com are just the same.

2. Do a market research and learn the keywords or key phrases that are usually being used on your target niche. These are the words that you would want to incorporate on your domain name to make it search-engine friendly.

3. Visit domain name registering services if you don't have an idea on how to create them. These services allow you to search for website names that are related to your targeted keywords and are not yet taken. If one name appeals to you, don't waste any time and register it right away before somebody does.

4. One is not enough. Don't allow your competitors to duplicate your website name by registering it using all available suffixes (.com, .org, .tv, .net, etc.). That doesn't mean though that you have to maintain several websites as all your domain name can point to one website.

5. Ask for feedback. Let your friends or a small group within your chosen niche comment about your desired domain name. What may seem perfect for you might be too tough to remember for other people.
