Even before you establish your online presence, you must already keep SEO and your target market in mind. This can help you create a domain name that will bring enormous traffic to your website.

Here are the 5 no-brainer steps to energize your domain names:

1. Consider your target market. Pick a domain name that is most appropriate for them. Consider their language, their online behavior, age, occupation, economic status, educational background, etc. The more you know about the people you are advertising to, the more effective you will become in creating a website name that will fit their preference and their needs.

2. Make it keyword-rich. You would want your website to fare well on relevant searches to maximize your online exposure. Make your domain name search engine-friendly by incorporating keywords or popular search terms on it.

3. Stick with short and simple domain names. This is to promote easy recall and make it hassle-free for your potential clients to search your website online. Experts agree that the best website names run 5-9 characters and use one powerful word just like Google, MSN, Yahoo, eBay, and AOL.

4. Acronyms. You can use acronyms as long as they are logical and they must make sense to online users. For instance, you wouldn't want to use AOMS dot com for America Online Member Services, would you? But if your company name is well known like IBM, MSN, etc. you can use it as your website name for simple reason that it is memorable.

5. Pick the best suffix. This will depend on the type of website that you are running. If you are leaning towards selling online, .com is highly recommended as it communicates credibility and professionalism. You can also register your domain name using all suffixes to prevent your competitors from duplicating it.
