Domain Names Room

By Sean R Mize

A good domain name can bring you lots of money. In this article, I will share with you the 4 hidden methods that can help you pick a name for your website that is not only profitable but highly recognizable as well.

1. The shorter, the better. If you want to maximize your profits, you need to create a domain name that is short and easy to spell so it will be hassle-free for your potential clients to access your website. Take Google, MSN, Yahoo, AOL, and eBay for example. They are all short, containing less than 10 characters, and they are all highly visited. Experts agree that you must strive to use a website name using one powerful, popular keyword to make it extremely memorable.

2. It must be memorable. The length is not only the main consideration when picking your domain name. It is also equally important that it is memorable. Some companies go for initials in their effort to make their website name short but some do not make sense to online users. Take Carol's Bags and Jewelries for example, if you register CBAJ dot com, you are surely getting a short name, but is it memorable?

3. It must be related to your business name or core business. By this, I mean that it should be very descriptive. People should have an instant idea on what you offer the moment they hear about your domain name.

4. Register multiple names using different suffixes. If you have selected the perfect name for your website, I suggest you register it using all suffixes. Why? To safeguard your company from your competitors who might duplicate your website name once it has gained popularity online.
